Dr. Caryn Johnson is an obstetrician and gynecologist with University Health Women’s Care in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.  She was born and raised in Buffalo, New York.  She attended Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia for her undergraduate studies, where she majored in sociology.  After college, Dr. Johnson received a Master of Public Health Degree in epidemiology from the University of Illinois at Chicago School of Public Health. She then returned to her hometown for medical school at the University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.  In 2004, she continued her medical training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Duke University Medical Center’s residency program in Durham, North Carolina.  Prior to joining University Health Women’s Care, Dr. Johnson was in private practice with Dekalb Women’s Specialists in Decatur, Georgia from 2011 until June 2019.  She has special interests in women’s health disparities, management of uterine fibroids and quality and safety in health care. Dr. Johnson enjoys gourmet cooking and dining, vegetable gardening, traveling and spending time with her family and friends.
