The Directory of Black Women Physicians

Dr. L’Issa L. Gates is a native New Orleanian who practices pediatric and preventive medicine at Ochsner for Children where she is a Senior Attending Pediatric Specialist who couples outstanding medical services with a caring, nurturing approach. Dr. Gates is a graduate of Xavier University of Louisiana where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree Magna Cum Laude in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. She earned a Doctor of Medicine Degree from the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, New Orleans.  She is licensed by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners as well as the Louisiana Department of Education and is board certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics.

Dr. Gates serves on the Delgado Community College Care and Development of Young Children Advisory Board and holds membership in Phi Beta Kappa Scholastic and Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Societies.  She is a recipient of the Gold Doc Award by the Arnold P. Gold Foundation and was named a Healthcare Hero by New Orleans City Business Magazine. Further, Dr. Gates is also a member of the American Medical Association and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
