Dr. Tonja Johnson, MD Board Certified Psychiatrist, thought leader and motivational speaker uses well-known research findings regarding our responses to shame and guilt to provide an avant garde yet practical and high yield approach to addressing conscious and unconscious bias in both the clinical setting and the private sector. As a consultant, Dr. Johnson’s teachings have helped diversity and inclusion officers, residency programs, private sector companies and community organizations train and motivate their staff members to embrace contemporary diversity training by helping them understand the most common underlying psychological barriers inherent to diversity training. She has also designed online integrated CME/CE diversity courses that encourage engagement with the entire clinical team. She has delivered keynote addresses on how to “Find Resilience and Foster Leadership during Challenging Times”, cutting edge breakout sessions on Racism’s Impact on the Health of Entire Communities, and interactive vignette – based student didactics for the next generation of healthcare leaders.
